So much about wearing an outfit is about pulling it off with confidence. Whatever you're wearing, confidence is key, so the most important thing is to always have faith in yourself and your outfit choice.
I thought long and hard about this gingham dress I bought from Bershka. I was always too nervous to wear it, because I worried that it was too short, didn't fit right, it was too tight, etc. I'm sure you're all familiar with these kinds of self-doubts. But, to be honest, I'm tall, so almost all high street shops have dresses and skirts that are too short for me, and I loved the way it looked. So, I decided to take the plunge and wear the dress for an outfit post.
I was thinking about wearing black tights, too, but I thought nude tights would look so much better with the dress and for the blog, so I just thought, what the heck. My self-consciousness levels were at an all-time high when this outfit was being shot (it's hard not to feel self-conscious when every passer-by is staring at you because you're getting your picture taken, and that's without catcalls from the male spectators), but I just decided to ignore all the doubts and go for it. I absolutely loved how the photos turned out in the end!
The setting for this shoot is definitely grungier than the look I usually go for, that is, pristine white houses in South Kensington and Notting Hill. I was wandering around with my photographer, looking for the perfect place, and we walked past this cute cobbled sidestreet, with brick, white-washed houses. We both instantly thought of a slightly grungy vibe for the shoot ; the girliness of the drest contrasting with the black leather boots and the brick background. I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone, and tried something a little different.
