Usually I relegate skorts to my summer tennis whites, but I recently found this gorgeous skort in Zara. I loved the cute, almost gothic style of it due to its monochrome check print, which is perfect for the winter season, and unlike nothing I’ve ever really worn before. While the skort might not look that warm, I did have to reinforce the look with two pairs of skin-coloured tights so I wasn’t freezing my pants off. I also love the faux leather of the shorts at the back, which provide an unexpected twist to this truly unique piece.
I wanted to keep the core look wholly monochrome, so I teamed the skort with a simple, white jumper, and my black knee-high boots. I love the way a mini skirt with knee-high suede boots looks very 60s – sexy, but still classy. I’m actually currently on the hunt for some thigh-high boots, but these H&M classics have seen me through many cold days since I got them last winter.
I decided to break up the monochrome look by just having a colourful coat and my favourite scarf. This pink boyfriend coat doesn’t look that warm, but it’s surprisingly thick, and the long length provides a lot of extra warmth. I also like the contrast of the coat, falling to my knees, and the tiny mini-skort. And, of course, I couldn’t complete any winter outfit without my favourite Burberry scarf, which also adds a flash of colour to the outfit, and continues the check theme.
I’m also obsessed with this bag – doesn’t it remind you of JW Anderson?! It’s actually Zara, and was only 29.99! Read more about all the reasons I’m currently obsessing over Zara here.
